Sabang, Palawan, Philippines

OUR TRAVEL
March 2015

Palawan is growing very popular as a tourist destination in the Philippines.  There are a lot of travel worthy destinations in this province and Sabang is one of them.  Sabang is 2-3 hour ride located in western coast of Puerto Princesa City and where the famed Underground River is situated.  The Underground or Subterranean River is considered as the top New 7 Wonders of the World on 2011 and has gained fame to many local and foreign tourists.  This year, we decided to visit Sabang as one of our first of many travel destinations in Palawan.

Mangrove Paddle Boat Tour

Our first activity once we arrived in Sabang.  It is 45 minute paddle boat tour through the protected mangroves where-in your guide provides you some relevant information and trivia regarding the ecological importance of the area as well as the indigenous people living in it.

Sabang Beach

We all know that Palawan is well known for it's beautiful beaches and Sabang Beach is on of them. What we love about this beach is that it is not so "touristy" unlike other beaches in Palawan like El Nido and Coron.  It has a laid back atmosphere where you can just relax and enjoy the view or swim the by the beach.  Just be careful as current may be strong at times and rip tides are often found.

Not much tourists around, perfect for relaxing

Underground / Subterranean River

As mentioned earlier, the Underground/Subterranean River is part of the New 7 Wonders of the World and the highlight destinations in Sabang.  When booking for a tour here, make sure that you coordinate with the City Tourism Office of Sabang or your through your resort or hotel in advance as number of tourists visiting the place are limited especially during peak days.  Here, you are to enter a limestone cave directly beneath a mountain by small boats wherein your experienced guide will paddle you through a running river filled with rock formations of stalactites and stalagmites.

Daluyon Beach & Mountain Resort

This is one of the upscale resorts here in the area. Most accommodations here have limited electricity.  But Daluyon Beach & Mountain Resort provides 24-hours uninterrupted power which is one of the main reasons why we chose to stay here.  Also, the resort is beautiful with a tropical-nature ambiance.  Expect quality service in this resort.  They can also arrange tours for you, just inform them in advance.   We spent the rest of our free time chilling out and enjoying the beauty of the resort.
